French cleat backing is a secure hanging system often used for acrylic, wood, and gallery-style wall pieces. It uses two interlocking angled pieces: one attached to the back of the artwork and one mounted to the wall.
Once installed, the artwork slides into place and rests securely on the wall-mounted cleat. This creates a clean, stable, slightly dimensional presentation without visible front hardware.
For acrylic prints, french cleat backing helps the piece sit evenly on the wall while giving it a subtle floating effect. It is a strong, professional hanging method designed for a polished, gallery-level finish.
Why we use it
French cleat backing keeps the artwork secure, level, and easy to hang. It also supports the frameless acrylic presentation, allowing the polished edges and clean surface of the piece to remain the focus.

Printed on crystal clear acrylic with polished edges and a glossy, dimensional finish.
To clean, use a soft microfiber cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners, paper towels, ammonia-based products, or harsh chemicals. For best results, gently wipe the surface with a clean, dry or lightly damp microfiber cloth.

French cleat backing is installed with one cleat attached to the back of the artwork and one matching cleat attached to the wall.
To hang the piece, mount the wall cleat level and securely into studs or with included wall anchors. Then lift the artwork and lower it onto the wall cleat so the two angled pieces lock together.
Once seated, the artwork should rest evenly against the wall with a secure, slightly floating presentation. For larger pieces, we recommend having two people install the artwork and using a level to make sure it hangs straight.
